Afternoons Q-105 Tampa
Since the Birmingham days, I've
seen Jon push the envelope and go
beyond expectations throughout his
career. This website will be one of
the premier Radio destinations
online and will prove that philosophy
once again.

I will definitely be checking this out.

Those working to create great radio
today can learn a ton from how it was
done in the past. Jon, you've been
part of some station's I'd list in a
textbook of "how to create great
radio." Thanks for taking the time to
build a site that we can all learn from
and be inspired by!

Jon... Great piece on WSGN! Best I have
seen... FYI... I am currently semi-retired,
living in Port Saint Joe, FL, and
managing WFCT-FM, which our
company owns. We also own 5 other
small market stations in Anniston, AL
and East-Central AL. The 10 years that I
spent at WSGN as announcer, PD, etc.,
were fabulous fun! All the best!

Jon, fabulous site that I've been
spending way too much time on!
I remember when I first came to
Birmingham from WBSR Pensacola
as a young, young lad and met an
even younger, Jon Anthony. What I
remember most are many nights
you'd invite Superfoxx and I over to
your place and haul out hundreds of
air checks and we'd listen to every
great jock under the sun until THE
ACTUAL SUN came up !  Back then I
was just getting my own radio act
together (I was just 21) and to hear
your archives was amazing !  I have
dozens of old Programmer's Digests
SOMEWHERE..  I must find those, as
I'm sure it would have a ton of stuff of
value to you and your new site--
this kicks butt pal---

A great web site that recreates the
days when radio had character -
and characters.  Never overlook
how fortunate many of us were to
be able to make a living doing
something we truly believed in
and truly enjoyed. Thanks Jon,
and keep up the great work.

To learn how to do fun incredible
CHR (like it used to be done)...
please listen to Jon's airchecks
immediately if not sooner! (as we
used to do in FLZ Staff meetings)
Love the site!

I recently checked out your great site.
Just finished listening to your
Oldies/Sarasota air check...
chillbumps... Way to go amigo. Your site
brings back cherished memories of
great radio, unbelievable craziness,
humongous talent, mountains of
creativity and great friendships that
endure today. Thank you.

I love this site..reminds me of the
great days when radio was actually
FUN and competitive. As a 40 year
radio vet, I long for the glory days of
Top 40, and the fun, excitement and
passion we all had for the music, our
stations, and our listeners.
Thanks Jon for this awesome site.

As one of those kids who grew up in
Tampa Bay listening to The Great
138 WLCY” and later Q105 (and
even Y95FM) I love hearing the
airchecks!  Keep posting them.
Sites like yours point out so clearly
what’s been lost in the corporate
takeover of the radio industry, that
folks today will never get to
experience that magical relationship
with the guy (or girl) who’s just
having fun on the radio.

I can't wait to see what you create
each post. I do this Power Pig site to
teach those still coming up in this biz
what radio was like... and I learned a
lot of what I know from you so I cant
wait to read and hear what's next.

Way to go Jon, fellow Good Guy; I am
enjoying your blog. Just yesterday I
viewed a Super 8mm film of the day
we convoyed from our old studios on
7th Ave. South to the new Penthouse
of the City Federal Building
downtown. The Good Guys and
Ben McKinnon were decked out in
custom blazers for the special
occasion. Our great PD, Jim Taber,
took the mic first. It was a fun run and
you carried the torch in the seventies.
There will never be a better radio
station in America,
in my humble opinion.

Wow Jon:  truly a cool radio site that
feeds those of us who worked in what
was a really fun, and somewhat
prestigious profession.  I am blessed to
have worked with people like you, and
the amazing line of boogie-jocks who
roamed the halls of WLCY, WDAE,
WSUN, WMGG, WNLT, WFLZ....wait..are
there any that we didn't work at?
Visit anytime at www.jefflaurence.com
